bits of my weekend- volume 12

Can't believe the weekend has already come and gone!
Here are some little bits of my weekend.

Fruit stand right outside my apartment building.
He's open every day until around 2 am, unless the temperature is below freezing.
Please don't hate me.

Holding hands.

We went to the park and I spotted this little family of boys. Loved their balloons.

Do you see the little lighthouse in the background?

I have a thing for flower boxes.

I also have a thing for this guy. He's growing up way too fast.

What did you do this weekend? I'd love to know!

Add your linky here. But, please link directly to your post that is about what you did over the weekend. It's great if you title it "Bits of My Weekend." But you don't have to.

If you merely link to your blog and a random post that has nothing to do with your weekend, I'm afraid I'm going to have to be mean and delete your link. Gasp! Please don't make me do that. But please share your weekend!

bits of my weekend- volume 11

We had another lovely weekend.

Tea at Alice's Tea Cup.
Highly recommend the chocolate, strawberry tea and the pumpkin scones.

A little trip to FAO Schwartz with Grandma Gigi.

The most fabulous craft project ever. Playfoam sculpting beads never gets hard, is not messy, and is also quite addictive for adults to play with.

For Mother's Day, I requested a family photo. They all miraculously obliged. This made me quite happy!

bits of my weekend- volume 10

We had another beautiful weekend in NYC. I love that spring is finally here! It's great to get outdoors and explore the city.

We headed down to the Tribeca Film Festival Family Fair. But on our way I got side tracked by the Manhattan Municipal Building. I just loved the architecture.

The Family Festival was a lot of fun. Great food, interesting people, lots of music.

I'm pretty sure this is art. Well, actually I'm not sure. It could have been an exhibit for full-body spanx.

The food was amazing. I'm a southern girl and have been craving a pork sandwich. I couldn't believe it when I saw a table selling them.

Please do not email me about the horrors of eating pork. I am well aware of them. I have even taught nutrition classes about it. I am a hypocrite. Thank you.

At $59 for 4 pork sandwiches, and 4 pink lemonades, I quickly realized this was not the same type of street fair I grew up on in Tennessee. It's a tad more pricey. Delicious. But pricey.

I was pretty happy with my choice of pork sandwiches, until I saw the tacos.

And the lobster rolls.

We also learned some valuable information at the street fair. Lily's phobia of puppets extends to the "larger than life" puppet category.

And maternal instincts were not required to make this discovery. Everyone within a few feet were well aware of Lily's phobia.

To cool off we took a walk down by the Hudson River. So beautiful.

With a view of the Statue of Liberty.

There is a great park on the river, too. The kids sat and watched the ducks for a while. Lily tells us grandpa LOVES ducks. And that he loves them so much he hangs them on the wall.

Finally back home to make homemade pizza for dinner. Lily is the expert oven watcher in the family. And I'm pleased to report that the pizzas were delicious.

I hope you had a great weekend too!

bits of my weekend- volume 9

While it's true there is ALWAYS something to do in New York City, I've found that even the simplest tasks can become an adventure. What started as a simple errand to pick out Jackson some new clothes ended up being a lovely day.

Subway rides can be boring for kids. And I can only play 20 questions with Lily for so long before I start losing my mind. Thank goodness for the iPhone. As a side benefit Lily is becoming a master Checker player. Can you get a college scholarship for being really good at checkers? If so, I'm going to keep pushing this.

Once we got off the subway, we ran into a Sikh rally or parade. While I couldn't understand anything they were yelling through their microphones, I was drawn to their colorful turbans. Unfortunately, Lily was so confused that she thought we had stepped off the island of Manhattan and landed in another country.

After walking a few more blocks, we looked up and saw The Empire State Building.

A quick snack at Herald Square. It's at Broadway and 34th street. So charming with their little tables and green chairs.

Later on we headed over the the West Village to try the famous Milk & Cookies Bakery. Love the West Village! Full of great places to shop and eat.

You can also order their cookies on line. Delicious!

This weekend my son Bo turned 15! Happy Birthday Bo. When he woke up he found this taped to his door. He liked it, but then requested that I make SURE to take it down before his friends came over. Ahh...to be 15 again.

bits of my weekend- volume 8

Who doesn't heart a pair of shoes from Targetto?

I love to watch the boats go by from my bedroom window.

We had a little party for Lily this weekend to celebrate her 7th birthday.

Please share your bits of your weekend too!

bits of my weekend- volume 7

I realize this should actually be called itty-bits of my weekend this time. Unfortunately, after my last picture was taken some weird side effects to some medication started to take effect and sent me back to bed. Either that, or aliens were trying to invade my body.

Looking forward to seeing what you all did this weekend! Anyone can participate! Just sign Mr. Linky below!

bits of my weekend- volume 6

Spring Break kept me from posting this last week. But I'm so glad to be back to share another Bits of My Weekend with you. If you're not part of this little community, I'd love for you to join. It's great to see how others around the globe spend their weekend!

We had 2 big events this weekend which is why I'm posting a lot more pictures than normal. Saturday was Lily's 7th birthday and of course Easter was Sunday. Lily was just thrilled that the resurrection of our Lord and Savior was "moved" to be closer to her birthday.

We started her big day off with a carriage ride around Central Park. We could only persuade Jackson and Rod to join us. Ben and Bo said they had other things to do. Carriage rides don't really seem to appeal to teenage boys.

Central Park was looking beautiful that day:

This is Lily receiving one of her many birthday phone calls from the grandparents. She finally cut them off by saying, "Uh...I need to go. I'm kinda on a carriage ride. I'd like to enjoy that now, please. Thank you. "

Jackson feeding the horse, while our driver counts his money in the background.

Jumping for joy in Central Park.

Next stop was The Plaza Hotel, which is just amazing. Even the flowers in the lobby are over the top:

The reason we went to The Plaza was so we could visit The Eloise store. It is just adorable. Especially if you like the color pink.

This lovely picture of my backside is me picking up fragile merchandise that Lily dropped. Within the first 5 seconds of walking in the store.

Tea Party room at The Eloise Store:

Next stop was lunch for the birthday girl at an outdoor cafe. Girl loves her sushi.

Let's just say this sculpture at Colombus Circle caused a bit of curiousity. Can you see Lily running around it...then screeching to a halt. She had quite a few things to say about this.

Happy Birthday baby girl.

After church on Sunday we took a stroll through Bryant Park to enjoy the sunshine.

We wandered over to 5th Avenue where we heard The Easter Bonnet Parade was going on. I'm going to include one picture here, but I will be doing a whole post on this event later. Because it was...well...it was a bit out of the ordinary.

Cab ride home with my handsome husband after a long day. I'm a lucky girl.

What about you? Share your weekend pics in the linky below.
