another reason i love anthropologie

I don't know if you heart Anthropologie as much as I do. But I just found another reason to love it even more.

I've been adding a few finishing touches to our apartment and was looking for some new pillows for the couch. I'm usually not a fan of the pillows that come with most couches. They're a tad boring, don't you think? But if you still have the pillows that came with your couch, I'm not going to judge you.

Anyway, I've been noticing all the beautiful crewel wool pillows on-line and in a lot of the stores. Then I noticed their price tags. Most of these type pillows are $200 dollars or more for just one tiny one. Pretty - yes. Pretty expensive - that would also be a yes. And since we're on a b-u-d-g-e-t living in the city, I just couldn't justify it.

Then I went to Anthro and saw this:

It's called their Floral Fresco rug. It's made out of wool and has a cotton backing. I loved the colors. Loved the size. I wished it was a pillow instead of a rug. I even said out loud, "I wish you were a pillow instead of a rug." What? Don't you talk to items as you shop? Then I noticed there was a cotton backing that was actually sewn onto the rug. It was like a pillowcase (but with no opening.) Why couldn't I turn it into a pillow?

I bought it and brought it home. Lily and I ripped it open and stuffed it with the down from the old sofa pillows. I was going to take a picture of the actual process, but that would have required leaving Lily in the room ALONE with feathers while I retrieved my camera. I'm sure you can understand my decision.

Here's a picture of the finished project:

I love how big it is and that it makes a statement. It also breaks up a lot of the beige I have going on.

Would love to know what you think! And please tell me you love Anthro as much as I do.

Hi

having lusted after Anthropologie for a while, a store eventually opened in London just before Christmas, to say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement. I LOVE IT....

I love Antro. A lot. I've developed this bizarre habit of replacing the knobs on EVERYTHING WE OWN with quirky knobs from Anthro. I don't know, there's just something about those knobs...

Sadly, I was in Anthro Monday with my 17-year-old and she commented that all of the clothes there were cute "for you" (meaning me), but not quite hipster enough for her. WHAT??

See - you have anthro! A Target yes but no Anthro. I do get the catalog and but have a hard time with it because the style is so unique - you really have to see it in person. Reminds me of Free People. So I have never ordered anything but there is a set of bowls that I would love to own.

Yes!! I absolutely agree with your total adoration of all things Anthropologie.
A little side note ... I am an architect in Atlanta, and my firm actually does a lot of remodeling/new store construction for Anthropologie. I'm always gushing over the store, but as one of just a few females in my office, I often get a lot of blank stares from my male co-workers who just don't get it!

So I have to say hi because if I don't I'd feel like a complete creep-o. I've been reading your blog for a few days now and love it (my good friends Joanne told me about it)!

First in reference to your Target letter, check out this article http://tinyurl.com/yavcafc a professor back in college told me about this and I thought it was by far the coolest thing Target has ever done. I promise I will think of you every time I go.

I second your love of Anthro, I like to just go in there and take it every aspect. Its truly breathtaking.

Thanks for blogging, and I'm looking forward to reading more.

I probably love Anthro more than you. Except that every time I go, I sort of go into a fabulousness anxiety attack. I'm paralyzed by fabulousness and I land up leaving in shock. I could never do what you did with that gorgeous pillow. It looks fantastic.

Anthro is the best!! Unfortunately I do not have one here in OKC, but every time I go to Dallas or Kansas City I prepare myself to spend way more than I should! I love their delicate style, and LOVE their dresses.

I HEART Anthrpologie as well. It runs a close second to Target & also the city. Love your blog by the way! If I could live anywhere, it would be NY, but I'm here in corn country....Iowa.

Hello -
Did you know that the Anthro at Rockefeller Center has better sales that the other Anthro stores.....
The RC store often offers bigger discounts on sale items than other locations - sometimes offering 10% or 20% additional off of sale items.
I could spend hours in the basement clearance at the RC location.
I also heard they are opening one in the Chelsea Market - if you can go to the grand opening - they always give away freebies...
Also join the Anthro club - I just got a 15% off coupon as my birthday is this month.
Okay time for me to go shopping!
